Shelter Lodging in Montevideo is located in town, with good transportation to any points in the COUNTRY. The Country Capital has innumerable attractions during all the year: movies, theater festivals, shows, big commercial centers, sandy beaches 10 minutes from town, bars, restaurants with international cuisine, sportive activities, concerts, artisans works and anything the visitant can find in any big city. We recommend, among others, the Carnival (February), the Native Week (Rural event with rodeos, on March and on April), the International Festival of Theater (April), the International Book Show (In a beautiful park in town), the Song Festival.

Going from Montevideo, there are COT and COPSA buses every hour time. You have to get down the bus in front of the "Argentino Hotel" bus stop, go by Simon del Pino St and walk 200 meters more {14} {15} IBN.

Piriápolis, a seaside resort, 100 km from ontevideo, that is not only an urban place with every service necessary for enjoying unforgettable holidays, but, a place with many natural attractions: hills ("cerros") surrounding the resort, salvage vegetation, the Autochthonous Fauna Reserve, unique in South America, at the bottom of the Pan de Azúcar Hill. We recommend to see the South American Form 3 Race, the visit to the Piria Castle (city founder), La Cascada Park, the ascent to the San Antonio Hill in chairlift , from where you will appreciate a formidable landscape of the city and its surroundings, the Toro Hill.

 

Villa Serrana  Villa Serrana

It is on Route 8, km 164, in Terrazas de Manantiales, Maldonado Department
Going from Montevideo, company buses are: NUÑEZ and RUTAS DEL PLATA. You have to step down at km 145 on Route 8 and walk 5 kilometers.

Villa Serrana is an ideal zone to get a good rest, surrounded by sierras, brooks and dells, with abundant and fertile vegetation. A few meters from the Shelter there is a little lake with a dike and areas for taking bathes like "La Olla" and "El Baño de la India". Regarding the characteristics of this Shelter, we emphasize the importance for the visitors to keep order.

Manantiales

It is on Route 10, km 164, in Terrazas de Manantiales, Maldonado Department

There is a direct transportation service from Mdeo (COPSA) two times a day (6.00 am and 2:30 pm).
From Punta del Este (COMBI) every hour. From Maldonado (CODESA) bus 5 to Manantiales.

Manantiales is a restful seaside resort located a few kilometers from Punta del Este, the principal touristic center in South America. Tourist can enjoy the peacefulness of this place as well as the beautiful Shelter beach in 500 meters. We recommend: Jose Ignacio, with its beacon built in 1877, Punta del Este plenty of natural attractions (Gorriti Island, Lussich Park, "Punta Ballena" (Whale Point) and the picturesque "Casa Pueblo" as well as its nighttime charms, Movie Festivals, theaters, concerts, shows, competitions, etc. You will visit Maldonado City (Department Capital), founded in 1757, with many architectonic and cultural attractions.

La Paloma  La Paloma

The Shelter "Altena 5000" is located in the middle of a leafy wood of pines and eucalyptus, face to the Atlantic Ocean. It is one of the few Hostelling Centers specifically designed for a social lodging, without forgetting comfort and the rational use of spaces. It is unique, because it joins its own characteristics as a wood and a beach shelter, located at the entrance of the main Rocha seaside resort, with its nighttime life, making of this place "a world for those who want to run away from world". We recommend the large fringe of ocean beaches, La Pedrera, el Faro del Cabo Santa Maria (1870), the Parque Andresito sportive complex, with tennis and paddle grounds, next to the Shelter.

Going from Montevideo, you may take the buses from the following Bus Companies: RUTAS DEL SOL, COT, CYNSA (direct trip)

Barra de Valizas, located in a country like zone with thin sandy ground, is a small and picturesque fishermen town surrounded by dunes and ocean beaches. There are many small restaurants where you will taste shellfishes took out from the ocean waters by the town fishermen.
We recommend Cabo Polonio, a rocky land that enters the sea and shelters thousands of water wolfs and aquatic birds. It is possible to get to the Cabo with every-ground vehicles o carriages pulled by horses that have to go through the giant dunes, in an unforgettable journey.
It is worthwhile too, rent a boat to go up the Valizas brook and get to the lagoon where shelter many migratory bird species. Going Route 9 East, the visitant will
Find the Santa Teresa Fortress, colonial building very well kept. This Fortress, located in the Santa Teresa National Park of 1020 hectares, is a testimony of the territorial wars between Spain and Portugal in the XVII century.
