The Cerro Pan de Azúcar has a height of 423 mts.,
and is the highest point of the hills that approach the
coast in the department of Maldonado. In the hubica top
a cross of armed cement, 35 mts. of height, devised by
Juan Zorrilla of San Martín in 1933. Inner snail
is promoted to her by stairs that allows to arrive at
the viewpoint located in its arms to appreciate the landscape
towards the four cardinal points. From the center of the
bath it is arrived at the hill by the Artigas avenue,
that is born in the boulevard of the Argentineans and
it extends in route 37, leading to Reserve
of Native Fauna nailed in its skirt.
It is recommended to make the long walk in hours in the
morning of way to avoid the hours in which the sun returns
too exhausting course. To take water, protection for the
sun, hat and substantial fruits he is advisable for a
successful ascent. The footwear must comfortable and be
adapted for this type of land. The passage begins by the
ways of the fauna reserve, going into the interior of
the inner footpaths that allow to see the different species
in their natural habitat. The labyrinthine layout of them
returns more attractive the route and each visitor will
choose by as she will journey in this stage. The tranquillity
of the place causes that the long walk is pleasant observing
swans of black neck, wolves of river, pumas, ferrets and
deer of field among others. In some footpaths the way
becomes narrower and the vegetation interlaces itself
letting pass as soon as few rays of sun. Anyone has been
the chosen way the point of beginning of the climbing
is next to the area where the capybaras are located. It
is worth the trouble to stop a little while to observe
them there.
A way towards the left is the marked return for which
they do not have intention to raise the hill. The first
section of a scaling begins then that altogether will
take one or two hours, according to the rate of each visitor.
Tour towards the right and descries clearly to noticeable
red arrows on rocks indicating the sense to follow. It
is necessary to pay attention to them not to lose itself.
More ahead the way lets be noticeable and only one footpath
is opened in the mount to indicate the ascent. The stones
become greater, some is necessary to climb them, others
is necessary to surround them to be able to continue.
The trees are located to both sides, the shade is permanent
in this section. It is necessary to have precaution with
rocks not to slip, small water threads descend on llas.
The way is made difficult more and more, the mount of
eucaliptus finishes and no longer it protects of the sun,
the rocks are greater. The Vista from is incredible here,
can be seen the coast, the city, the castle of Piria and
in the clear days also it is possible to descry End of
the East. It is a good place to stop and to appreciate
the landscape. It is necessary to recharge energy because
still it is left way to cross. Upwards the cross stands
out that seems to be located close, but the way continues
and still the top does not appear. After minutes the ascent
less is raised and the long walk requires less effort.
A rectilinear passage is the prelude to arrive until the
feet de la Cruz. It is good place to seat in the grass,
to take something fresh and to feel the wind dominating
in the height. For that still they have energy the invitation
is to raise until the arms of the Cross to observe there
from all the surroundings. The reduction is made by the
same way, being fast and easy. It is necessary to have
precaution with loose stones to avoid to fall, controlling
the speed that is acquired in the slope.
Not to lose itself it is not necessary to neglect painted
rocks. He is recommendable to obtain some resistant wood
that it serves as support at the time of descending. After
crossing the mount of eucaliptus the fauna reserve seems
to approach quickly. The inn that is located in the slope
of the hill or the small tables that underneath the shades
of you hoist them invites to rest can be an excuse to
appreciate the hill in their fullness. To watch now towards
the top allows to value the made effort.

the country: one worked carefully, bearing the difficulties
of a experience without antecedents. At the moment the units
add 31 are registered in Germany (Zoo. Berlin) who takes the
world-wide registry of the species, inquiring from that Institution
that the flock of the Station of young is the greater one
of the world in semicaptivity. Four parallel groups with units
born in the Institution already took shape: in Santa Fé
- Argentina; San jOse, San Carlos and Trinidad- Uruguay. In
1990 the first room in the country for projection is inaugurated
