To visit the small city of Tranqueras arisen in 1892 and, from there, to cross a local road to the town of Masoller, are to undertake all an adventure within the department of Rivera. They are 30 kilometers that will allow the traveller to delight with the beautiful Vista of the blades and to enjoy the tranquillity of the place . During the passage the valley of the Lunarejo stream is crossed, which is declared reserve of flora and fauna. A manana of the month of September can be the ideal moment to make the stroll, being a whole land the most appropriate vehicle for it. If one comes from the north, in km 458 of route 5 General Brigadier Eugenio Garzón locates towards the right the entrance to route 30, who goes to Artigas. The distant spot, the Cuchilla de Haedo is observed, on the left, and the Cuchilla Negra, to the right of the route. After journeying some kilometers of route 30 the stream is crossed Deep Ditch and something advanced more is the entrance, towards the left, to the calm one, locality of Tranqueras. From the city is crossed there to take a parallel local road to route 30 in the direction of Masoller. This it is the moment for acquiring provisions for the stroll since after beginning the passage there will be no more warehouses until the Masoller town. The route until the valley of the Lunarejo does not have senalización reason why it is due to lead slowly and to follow the instructions correctly. After crossing the bridge next to the Municipal Bath, the way happens to be of ballast and the vegetation in its surroundings is dense. When beginning an ascent of 500 meters, immediately, by hand left, is due to take a way that seems to go backwards. A poster, that in opposite direction indicates the entrance to Tranqueras to a kilometer allows to verify that it is journeyed in the correct sense.

When advancing another kilometer is, towards the same side, a rural school. The Minuano hills and of the Hairy ones are almost one constant in the landscape. As the Cuchilla de Haedo advances is distinguished nearer and the way ascends to go into in her. To a kilometer and means of the school a dense and extensive native mount crosses the field. This it is the perfect indicator of the course of the Lunarejo stream. When it is arrived in front of two wood houses, one of ceiling of roofing tile and another one of quincho, one is due to double to the right. This is the correct direction to go into in the zone of the valley of the Lunarejo, which has a total area of 6,500 hectares.

The vegetation seems then to seize of the way, which is narrower and stony than the previous one. The stream is left by hand and parallel to him advances. Single silence is interrupted by the songs of diverse birds of the zone. When leaving back the Lunarejo stream is continued until Masoller. The Vista towards the right of the Cuchilla Negra is a great spectacle. In the following kilometers, the vegetation diminishes and the fields return to be inhabited by cattle. When arriving at the incambiable town of Masoller fuel can be found, a bar and a warehouse that opened its doors in 1875 for the first time. Masoller is located in route 30, in the South end of the limit answered by Uruguay with the Federal Republic of Brazil. From the route it continues here towards the city of Artigas
