Pozos Azules

They are located in the mountain Cerro de las Animas and its access is located in km 94 of route 9, behind the position of road Police. Some does not exist signaling, reason why the power station of by hand right Ute of the traveller is due to take like reference.

After crossing the doorman and journeying 400 meters, arrive to the Center of Visitors of the nongovernmental organization of Tecoguazu. The purpose of this organization is to contribute to the sustainable development of the region. There, during the week ends of March to December and every day of summer it is possible to undertake the way towards wells, located to about four kilometers of distance.

The route begins with one slight ascent, by an ample footpath and delimited clearly. Immediately later one goes below pylons. Backwards the sea is seen, in as much towards the left the native vegetation is located by hand right and a forest of eucalyptuses. The way becomes narrower and minutes later is a natural canal, where, at times of rain, the water runs. Immediately the traveller goes into underneath a thick native grove where certain humidity is perceived, the air is fresh and flutter of the birds is listened to. So single on two ocassions the grove is interrupted to begin meters again advanced more. The narrow footpath is stony, winding and in short steep incline continuous. When culminating the passage under the forest, is journeyed by great orange rocks that make difficult the march. From a beautiful landscape of the coast and hills of the surroundings is appraised, being located the place to about 250 meters of altitude above sea level there. The rocky footpath tour towards the right and appears rocks of gray color. The departure point is distinguished and the dense vegetation, that was left back, covering the skirts with hills. Towards the right, they appear the undulations of the imposing mountain range.

The traveller journeys then by the Cerro Chico, that has a peak altitude of 350 meters. One is due to continue by the footpath marked between rocks, where the ascent less is accentuated than in the previous section. Although who exhausts itself he will be able to make a pause to enjoy the landscape. the footpath approaches a fencing that delimits the mountain range. Few meters but ahead are observed that the fencing continues straight in the direction of the viewpoint, whereas the footpath is turned aside towards the right, course to low between the viewpoint and the other top to its right. It is recommended to continue by the footpath, until the end of the same one. There another fencing is located that crosses the low one, from the viewpoint to the top located to the right. From this place, it is possible to be ascended to the viewpoint, in which important rocks stand out and where it is enjoyed the best panoramic view in the mountain Cerro de las Animas. The landscaping value of this panoramic point is unquestionable.

In order to continue until Pozos Azules -Blue Wells-, one is due to cross the fencing in North direction and to begin to descend until the gorge. The first section is advisable to journey it to few meters of the fencing, that is located to the right of the traveller. A footpath marked until wells exists, although it is due to be careful because the more accentuated this one, the more dangerous it can be to journey it. The traveller can slip and fall because of small dispersed stones in the footpath. Therefore, a new way can be tried, as long as not desvie of the main one. Minutes after beginning the descent, the fencing turns towards the right. One is due to leave the course of the fencing and to continue the descent by the footpath. Towards the right, the hill is seen Cerro Pan de Azúcar with its characteristic cross in the top. The footpath has one slight deviation towards the right and it sees solitary trees next to ample gray rocks that serve as reference to the traveller. Minutes later, in the middle of the spectacular gorge, a great eucalyptus emerges from the dense native forest. This older tree serves as reference, since it is next to the Cañada Colorada. The water that runs by this gorge is the one that forms the refrescantes natural lagoons.

To the few minutes the way goes into in the shade of the forest. There they appear several marked footpaths to follow. It is advised to go towards the left, and soon and after advancing about 100 meters it will be arrived at the Gran Pozo. From it is possible here to follow the route of the dell one and to discover new wells. It is worth the trouble to remain awhile in wells, resting of the exhausting long walk. Who wishes it will be able to do picnic in the place, without damage the natural atmosphere. The return is hard reason why it is recommended to make a stop before starting off.
