It is a small town that arises in 1945 as a villa of rest of European style. Located in the department of Lavalleja between valleys of the streams Penitente and Marmarajá; it has to the architect Julio Vilamajó like creator of its more representative works. The Inn of Canes, where today a restaurant works and the Ventorillo de Buena Vista is both symbols of the place.

Villa Serrana Integrate the surroundings, respecting the nature and using material typical of the zone, like the stone and quincho. From the city of Minas arrives itself at Villa Serrana by route 8 Juan Antonio Lavalleja. To the height of 139 km a poster indicates towards the right the access to the villa. The surroundings are totally natural, the vegetation surrounds everything and as it advances the ascent becomes heavier. After two turns, to left and right respectively, a spectacular panoramic Vista by virtue of the elevation is had. If it is continued advancing by the way to the few minutes it will see towards the left the Calaguala. And something more advanced towards the same side the access towards the Strength. Both sites allow to enjoy homemade meals and for which they wish it to lodge to enjoy the tranquillity of the place. Returning by the same way one returns to the center of Villa Serrana where the long walk culminates. Without a doubt most adventurous they will choose to continue the stroll entering itself in in mount. From it is acceded there to route 8 happening as opposed to the official position again, after crossing a doorman later and a road.
